How much does it cost to install a Rooftop Units?

The cost of commercial rooftop units is affected by a number of factors. Every commercial rooftop unit is customized to meet the specific needs of both the building and the building's occupants. The following factors all influence the final price:

Size

Size of the unit is the biggest factor in determining the price. The unit will increase in size based off the size of the space you are cooling or heating. The bigger the space, the more energy is needed to change the temperature. In reference to heating and cooling, energy is measured in BTU's . One BTU is the amount of energy it takes to raise the temperature of 1 pound of water by 1 degree Fahrenheit. For a larger facility you need more power to cool or heat it.

The more people who pass in and out of your business will also increase the size you need for your HVAC system. People generate heat. 1 Person= 400 BTU's. The more people your space accommodates- the more power your system needs to control the temperature.

Be sure to consider how well insulated the building is. If it is well insulated less BTU's, or bits of energy, will escape. If it is not well insulated you may need a more powerful HVAC system.

To get an idea of how many BTU’s your space has find out here: https://www.calculator.net/btu-calculator.html

What are the best commercial rooftop hVAC units manufacturers?

It's a tough question. There are so many options out there, and it can be hard to know which one is right for you. These days, we find that people are looking for more than just energy efficiency when they buy their HVAC system because they want the best of both worlds - great performance and sustainability. Some of our favorite companies include Carrier, York International, Lennox Industries Inc., Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling and Heat Pump Division (MEHQ), Trane Technologies Inc, and Daikin Industries, Ltd. What should I do next? If you want to learn more about these products or get in touch with us directly.

What size do I need for a Rooftop unit?

HVAC sizing is measured in tons. Commercial HVAC units range from two to thirty tons cooling. You will need to know how many British Thermal Units (BTU) your building contains in order to calculate the tonnage needed. This is affected by the size of your space, the amount of traffic it gets, and how well insulated the space is.

1 Ton cooling = 12, 000 BTU's.

Small size business: 3-7 ton

Medium size business: 7-25 ton

Larger size business: 25-150 ton

What incentives/rebates are available?

You can find federal, state, and local efficiency incentives at DsireUSA.org

For rebates you can go directly to the manufacturer's website.
